Progress Report on Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development is very encouraging

Progress Report launched at the Virginia Agricultural Show

I welcome the findings of the first six-monthly Progress Report on the Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development, which was launched by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring TD at the Virginia Agricultural Show.

“I was delighted to attend the Virginia Agricultural Show at which the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring TD launched the first six-monthly Report on the Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development.

“The Action Plan for Rural Development, which is important for communities across Cavan, Monaghan, and north Meath, contains 276 Actions. Of these 276 Actions, 202 were either due for delivery in the first half of 2017, or highlighted activity taking place in the first six months of this year.

“This Action Plan is very ambitious for our rural communities in Cavan, Monaghan, north Meath, and across the country. I am delighted that, of the 202 Actions highlighted for activity in the first half of 2017, exactly 195 were either completed on schedule, or are in progress. The further 7 Actions were delayed.

“This high delivery rate clearly highlights the commitment of this Government to supporting the development of rural Ireland, and of every rural community in the Cavan/Monaghan constituency.

“Important initiatives which have a real impact in our local areas, and which are implemented under the Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development, include the Towns and Village Renewal Scheme, the CLÁR programme, and the Outdoor Recreation Scheme.

“I must commend Minister Ring on the work he is undertaking in his Department to benefit rural communities in in Cavan, Monaghan, north Meath, and across the entirety of rural Ireland.
