Opening of new €36 million milk powder dryer at Lakeland Dairies in Bailieborough is a vote of confidence in our local community

Fine Gael Senator for Cavan, Joe O’Reilly has said the official opening of Lakeland Dairies’ new €36 million milk powder plant in Bailieborough is great news for the town, the wider local community, and our county.

“I am delighted that the new €36 million milk powder plant in Lakeland Dairies in Bailieborough was officially opened by my Fine Gael colleague, the Minister for Agriculture, Trade and the Marine, Michael Creed TD.

“This investment by Lakeland Dairies in expanding their operations in Bailieborough signifies a vote of confidence in Cavan as a business base, and in the talent of our local workforce in Cavan.

“As a result of the commissioning of the third milk dryer, which is the integral aspect of the expansion of the Lakeland Dairies operation in Bailieborough, 81 jobs will be created over the next 5 years at the companies sites throughout our local region.

“Furthermore, the amount of milk powders processed will increase from 90,000 tonnes per year, to 130,000 tonnes.

“This investment by Lakeland Dairies in their infrastructure in Bailieborough will support our local agricultural community as Lakeland Dairies source all of their milk from local farming suppliers.

“Lakeland Dairies plant in Bailieborough is one of the most advanced milk powder plants in the world, and with the opening of this new dryer, it is one of the largest milk powder plants in Europe.

“As the local Fine Gael representative, I will actively engage with my colleagues in Government to ensure the needs of communities across Cavan are heard, understand, and acted upon by every Minister and Government Department.”
