O’REILLY WELCOMES NEWS THAT CAVAN WILL BE IRISH WATER HQ FOR CONNACHT/ULSTER

Fine Gael TD for Cavan and Monaghan, Deputy Joe O’Reilly, has welcomed the news from Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan TD, that Cavan will be one of three Irish Water, Regional Head Quarters for Connacht/Ulster.

Speaking after he was informed by Minister Hogan the Deputy said ‘This is a great day for Cavan and an enormous achievement for the County and one of the most exciting days of my Political Life. Minister Hogan confirmed to me this morning that Cavan has been selected as the Irish Water Head Quarters for the Connacht Ulster Region. The new Cavan Office will oversee Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim and other areas, yet to be determined.’

‘From a jobs point of view, this is very exciting news, the potential is there for between 18 and 32 new jobs. This will also mean a positive spin-off effect for Cavan Town, it will increase spending and have an encouraging effect on service industries in the Town. Design work and water meter installation will be managed from Cavan and it will become the centre for water delivery in the region’ continued the Deputy.

‘I would like to pay tribute to the County Manager, Mr Jack Keyes and the Executives of Cavan County Council for all the hard work they put in ahead of this announcement. I lobbied the Minister hard for this outcome and I am very pleased with today’s news’ concluded Deputy O’Reilly.
