O’REILLY WELCOMES €9 BILLION FOOD AND BEVERAGE EXPORTS IN 2012.

Fine Gael TD for Cavan and Monaghan, Deputy Joe O’Reilly welcomes the news that the food and beverage export results announced by Bord Bia for 2012 were at a record number of €9 billion.

‘This is a great achievement by the industry and ensures that its viability remains considerably strong, despite very challenging economic conditions. These exports represent the growth of the previous two year and illustrate how our agri-food sector is so vital to Ireland’s economic recovery’ stated the Deputy.

‘The Irish agri-food and beverage industry is an industry which is both global and local, driven by demands in markets both at home and abroad. Ireland is very much open for business and our market is extending every day, with growing trade links with China and other Asian markets and trade for Irish food and drink products trade in Middle Eastern markets and emerging trade with African countries’ explained the Deputy.

‘It is a credit to our local primary food and beverage suppliers that our country’s reputation for having high quality agri-food products is world renowned and constant’ concluded the Deputy.
