Fine Gael TD for Cavan and Monaghan, Deputy Joe O’Reilly, has welcomed the news from Minister Paschal Donohoe, that the National Roads Authority have allocated €2,927,614 towards improvement and maintenance works in Cavan.

Commenting on this, the Deputy said ‘I was happy to learn that Cavan were allocated this significant level of funding. The projects to benefit are €300,000 for Virginia Main Street, €500,000 for the Belturbet By Pass, €475,000 for the N55 (Corduff to South Killydoon and Dundavan/Mullahoran realignment scheme), €700,000 for Bridge Rehabilitation across the County, €202,067 for Winter maintenance and lighting for our National Roads and €34,600 in additional support for maintenance and Winter Maintenance of Local Roads.’

‘I am pleased to see such funding for many important local projects, notably Virginia Main Street and the Belturbet By Pass. Our national road network is a key asset as our economy moves towards recovery and growth. Preserving it will significantly assist and drive economic activity. The NRA’s 2015 national road allocations will benefit our local authority and our communities across the county. The funding will be used for improvement and maintenance works on the existing network and also towards the progression of a number of projects through the design, planning, land acquisition and construction phases’ concluded the Deputy.
