€1.3 Million awarded to Mullagh Water Scheme- O’Reilly TD

Speaking after he was informed by the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan, T.D., today ( March 20th) that he has approved the funding to allow Cavan County Council to award two contracts totalling almost €1.3 million for the replacement of water-mains in the vicinity of the towns of Mullagh and Ballyhaise., Fine Gael TD for Cavan and Monaghan, Joe O’Reilly TD warmly welcomed the news.

‘I am delighted to have been informed by Minister Hogan that he has approved the Mullagh Water Scheme. It is continuing evidence of his and our Government’s commitment to Cavan. The provision of a top class water supply is a real priority’, stated the Deputy.

“Water conservation measures, and water-main rehabilitation, are key elements of the Department’s Water Services Investment Programme 2010 – 2012. This contract has been funded under this Programme. The approval of funding for the Mullagh and Ballyhaise contracts will allow work to commence on the rehabilitation/replacement of a further 19 Km of water-mains in these locations’ explained the Deputy.

‘Approval of funding for these contracts clears the way for Cavan County Council to complete the contract formalities with the successful contractors so that construction work on the watermains rehabilitation can commence as soon as possible. I would like to congratulate the Executive of Cavan County Council on their outstanding work and to P&S Supplies for being awarded the contract’ concluded the Deputy.
