Deputy Joe O’Reilly welcomes new package for Ireland

Speaking after the announcement of the 2% Interest Rate reduction and the extension of the loan term to two years, Deputy Joe O’Reilly said that ‘ultimately this was good news for every citizen in Cavan and Monaghan.’

‘Our economy can now look to recovery with confidence and an earlier return to the bond markets.’
Speaking at the Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Affairs last Thursday (21st July) with the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Eamon Gilmore TD in attendance, Deputy O’Reilly welcomed the Diplomatic offensive that led to this breakthrough. At the same meeting he stressed the need for strategic financial regulation within Europe, a sharing of the burden of debt and realistic terms.

In reply, the Tánaiste gave an assurance that the Government will stay focussed on its agenda and its Diplomatic Initiatives.
