Play Park Funding
A Play Park in Cavan got a welcome funding boost this week from the Department of Children. Cavan Burren Prehistoric Play Park received an allocation of €15,000. This money will go towards the provision of child and youth friendly recreational facilities on the site of the Cavan Burren Park and I look forward to seeing the finished product.

AOH Mass
On Sunday, I attended an AOH organised open air Mass at a Mass Rock on Plunkett’s farm in Cormeen Laragh. It was a really special event and well done to all concerned.
Culture night in Cavan
Directed by Aaron Monaghan, this week’s performance in Cavan of Dermot Bolger’s ‘Walking the Road’ on poet Francis Ledwidge was unforgettable. It brought into focus the absolute futility of war. It is wonderful to see a Cavan Town born Director being both a local and an international success. Well to Aaron.
Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann.
I organised a very successful meeting between the leadership of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann and newly appointed Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD. We had a wide ranging discussion on the work of Comhaltas and its continued funding. This is a very important matter for County Cavan, as Comhaltas is a big organisation here and is doing extrinary work. It was greatly boosted by the three recent Fleadh.
