Welcome to 16th edition of the Cavan Voice. I hope that you are continuing to enjoy my weekly updates.
Kindest Regards,
Joe O’Reilly TD
On Sunday night, I attended the ‘Hooley at the Bridge’ and a Concert by ‘The Voice of Ireland’ Brendan McCahey. It was an enjoyable event and I met a lot of people. I detected amongst them a real sense that things are improving in the Country.
On Monday I had a very busy day in the Constituency and a good few attended my Bailieborough Clinic, which I hold in my house. It is on every Monday from 5:30pm and is catching on well. I am able to arrange people who phone me during the week to come to it when necessary and leaflet advertising it has gone into every house in the Town and surrounding areas.
I attended a Briefing with Solas trainees. It was worthwhile and they all told their personal stories. I have brought their concerns to the attention of the Minister.
I attended the weekly Parliamentary Party Meeting where among other issues there was a good discussion on Health.
I spoke on this week’s Private Members Motion, on Disability Issues. You can view my speech by clicking here.
I chaired a meeting of the All Ireland Committee on the Good Friday Agreement on Thursday. We met former UDA Leaders, who now constitute the Ulster Political Research Group and Personnel from Maynooth University’s Kennedy Institute. We had a very worthwhile discussion, particularly on Parades and getting a satisfactory completion of the HAAS initiatives.
Although the Dáil is in recess, I will be around the Constituency. In fact, meeting up or being in touch will be even easier now and you can contact me on in the below ways.
